Setting Up and IDX Header/Footer

Installing our IDX into your site
There are two ways to use our IDX data on your existing site.

OPTION ONE:  Frame the IDX data into your site utilizing a frame set.  If you would like to frame in the IDX simply let us know and we will remove any design from the IDX so it’s easy to frame in.

Example:
http://www.cassiesinclair.com/index.php?page_id=45

OPTION TWO: Use a Header-Footer template to utilize the look and feel of your site.  See info below.

How does it work?
The IDX search function is hosted on our servers.  By utilizing a Header-Footer template you can have a seamless way to utilize the search without having the end user feel as though they have left your site.

What do we mean by "header" and "footer" ?
Basically any HTML source code above where you want the IDX to go is called the “header”. Any HTML source code below where you want the IDX to go is called “footer”.

Does anything need to be changed in the html code of the realtor's site?
Because the IDX is hosted on our servers and not the realtors, any file that the html is looking for (images, css, javascript, links to other pages, etc) will need to have an absolute path back to the realtor’s website.

What does Cevado need?
We would need you to send us an html file of the realtor's site which you have modified to have all links (to images, css, other pages in the in the site, etc.) linked back to the realtors site. Clearly comment the code with “IDX GOES HERE” in the body area where you want the IDX content to show up.

Example:
We'll use cassiesinclair.com as an example. When she displays the IDX on her site, she would want the IDX to show up in the same area her other normal content shows up (the body of the page). Her webmaster would hard code all the images, links etc. back to her site and comment the HTML source.

Note that the body is empty except for the comment the IDX GOES HERE.  Also if you view the source code you will note that all images and links are calling back to the realtors site.

Look towards the bottom of the page and see the comment tags that surround the IDX GOES HERE text.

Note that all links take you right back to the realtors page, but that you are actually on our IDX site.

Something to consider as you setup the Header Footer Template

Do you want to have a complete menu system?
The menu system is the most likely piece of the site to change regularly. If you change the menu on the realtors site but don’t send us an updated Header-Footer template, those changes will not be reflected on the IDX. This would incur a 15 minute minimum charge to the client for updates. One option to make your life easier is to remove any menu items that may change and only leave the basic links in the menu such as contact Us and home.  By taking your menu down to the items that will never change, it's less likely that the IDX would need to be updated on a regular basis, saving money.
