Editing Cells

To Edit a cell in a table, first click your curson in a cell. Next open the Edit Table Icon and choose Edit Cell.

Autofit.

As with Edit Table, you can choose to Autofit the contents or set a fixed cell width. The width can be either in pixels or as a percentage of the width of the table. Note that at the bottom of this dialogue box, you can apply these settings to the Current Cell, the Current Row, the Current Column, or the whole Table. Click Apply to see what your settings will look like. Choose OK if you want to make the changes to your table.

Cell Properties.

Click on the Properties tab and you’ll see that you can have detailed control over the contents of each cell.

  1. Text Alignment - allows you to position the text in a variety of arrangements.
  2. Padding - allows you to set the distance from the content to each edge of the cell.
  3. White Space - typically left at it’s default of Not Set. You can experiment with this control depending on the content of your cells.
  4. Background - as with Edit Table, you can choose background colors or images.
  5. Border Style - works the same as using Border Style for the whole table.
  6. Again, you can use this box to apply your changes to the current cell, an entire row or column, or the whole table.

Text Formatting.
Text formatting gives many options. Since you can apply these changes to the entire cell, you'll find this option gives you excellent formatting control for your tables.

You can experiment with text formatting to achieve the effects you seek.
