Inserting Hyperlinks.
Hyperlinks allow you to
navigate between pages, to link with other websites, and even to email directly
from your website. To begin, open a page in standard pages. First we’ll demonstrate
how to link from the page you’re working on to a different page on your website.
First select the text that
you want to put a hyperlink on. Next click on the hyperlink dialog icon.

The hyperlink dialogue box
opens.

Types of Hyperlinks:
Depending on they type of hyperlink you want to create, you'll do one of the
following
- Link to Page on Your
Site: Open the drop down box and click on the title of another page on your
website.
- Link to File on Your
Site: You can link to PDF's Word Files, Excel Files and large JPEGS and GIF
files you have uploaded into your images folder. Click on the folder to browse
and select a file. For help with uploading one of these files, see the Using
Images video.
- Link: To link to another
website, either type in or copy and paste in the url. Copying and pasting
will be the most accurate, especially for long urls. Always remember to include
http:// or https:// before you type the rest of the url. An example would
be http://www.robertablack.com
- Email address: Type in
the email address you're linking to, e.g. info@robertablack.com
- Open Link In: Choose
SAME WINDOW unless you are linking to a different website from you own. (#3).
In this case you may want to choose NEW WINDOW. New Window opens the linked
website in a different window. This means that your website will still appear
in the taskbar at the bottom of the screen. A visitor will be able to click
on the task bar icon for your website and return to your site. If you leave
the setting at SAME WINDOW, your visitor can use the BACK button to click
back to your website.
- When your hyperlink is
ready, click insert. The hyperlink now appears. It will be active in your
website, but clicking on the hyperlink in your Page Editor will not take you
to another page.
Here's the Author Bio page
with the underlined hyperlink showing.

Hyperlinks are one of the
most important navigation tools available. When working with links, make sure
its easy for your viewers to understand what they are clicking on. Plan your
links carefully so that your viewers can quickly find the information they need.
